This is my donation to the Cartoon Art Museums upcoming fundraiser, “Scrawl-O-Ween. I’m scheduled for the October 5 slot, my prompt being “Demon”. As I pondered my submission, the “Devil” card from the Rider-Waite Tarot deck kept percolating in my mind; I decided to do it as a political cartoon. When I began work on it, Friday night, I grabbed the first tarot deck from my pile, which turned out to be the Manly P. Hall Tarot deck, not Rider-Waite. This was fortuitous, as I find the Hall version much creepier, more quasi-religious, which fits the point of my satirical attempt.
