THE MARK IN AMERICA, ISSUE #4, PAGE 6

Once again, I wanted shadows without cross-hatching. 

I used the same technique as on page 4, i.e., drawing the shadows with a black Sharpie on a tracing paper overlay and letting the production department combine the layers in post. Nowadays this kind of thing is easy as pie with Photoshop.

The overlay no longer registers properly as the tracing paper has shrunk over time. If this property ever goes back to print, I’ll fix it.
