THE MARK IN AMERICA, ISSUE #4, PAGE 3

In panel 1, I wanted to have radiating shadows from Archon and the marching soldiers, but I didn’t want to cross hatch them.

I asked my editor, Bob Schreck, how to accomplish doing shadows as color shapes.

He said I should draw them on an overlay and the editorial staff would combine them in post. These are the stages of the process.
