Here we enter “The
Warehouse”, where the previously fascist state of Lutzany housed the
genetically undesirable (i.e., freaks). This location had been shown previously
in the ongoing “The Mark” series issues #1 through #6. I scoured those issues
for usable depictions of the facility’s denizens (i.e., freaks) but was
disappointed. I was similarly unlucky at the public library (this was in the
early 90’s, before image search on the wwweb made research a breaze). I was
left to my own resources, so I took a page from “The National Lampoon” and it’s
article on the real-life basis for famed cartoon characters such as “Popeye”
and “Little Orphan Annie”, i.e., using comic-strip characters as my freaks.
This is page 11 for "The Mark" issue 4,
volume 2, otherwise known as "The Mark In America", published by Dark
Horse Comics in March 1994. Written by Mike Barr, Drawn by Brad Rader

Mark in America” are archived on the blog page of my website, www.raderofthelostart.com
