This was another transition
page, the function of which was to get the characters from one place to
another. There was a great many of this type of page in “The Mark in America”,
and the trick was to try to find a way to make them interesting without calling
too much attention to them, throwing them out of balance given their place in
the narrative. In the top tier, I used all same size panels to give a
metronomic rhythm. The bottom tier was similar enough to each other to,
hopefully, have the same effect.
