The
writer, Mike Barr, complained to me that he had really wanted the film noir
effect of the neon sign outside the hotel room’s window to be flashing
intermittent red, rhythmically lighting and not lighting the room. He blamed me
for the effect not happening in the published comic. I told him to blame the
colorist for not reading the script (common practice in my experience). Or
blame the editor for not doing due diligence in terms of quality control. It’s
pretty obviously present in my artwork, at least on this page, less so in the
next 2 pages dealing in this location.
This is page 14 for "The Mark" issue 3,
volume 2, otherwise known as "The Mark In America", published by Dark
Horse Comics in January 1994. Written by Mike Barr, Drawn by Brad Rader
