THE MARK IN AMERICA, ISSUE #2, PAGE 23

This is one of the few action packed pages in the entire Mark in America uncollected graphic novel. I like the way the harsh, focused light on the stage leant itself to drama. One can see occasional touches of Kirby, but the strongest resemblance I see is to Dan Lawlis, who was active around this time (1993) drawing “Barb Wire” and “Agent of Law” for Dark Horse Comics. I wasn’t influenced by his work, but I liked those issues enough to buy them, and they stayed in my collection when many things haven’t.

This is page 23 for "The Mark" issue 2, volume 2, otherwise known as "The Mark In America", published by Dark Horse Comics in January 1994. Written by Mike Barr, drawn by Brad Rader.
