THE MARK IN AMERICA, ISSUE #2. COVER

THE MARK IN AMERICA, ISSUE #2, COVER(S)

This is the cover for The Mark, issue #2, Volume #2, also known as “The Mark In America”. On the left is my original pencil design for the cover; on the right is the design as printed. The cover was painted by Jim Rhon, creator of “The Holo Brothers”. I like it better than the cover to Issue #1, in so far as Mr. Rhon stuck more closely to my design, though he took the liberty of flopping it. Or perhaps it was an editorial decision. I like my typographic design better than what the production department came up with; I think mine is much more dramatic. I was referencing war propaganda posters from WW 1 and WW 2, and the type treatment was part of that. Somewhat lost in the printed version; the "in America" is almost whimsical and the gradated purple disappears into the dirty orange background.

This is the Cover for "The Mark" issue 2, volume 2, otherwise known as "The Mark In America", published by Dark Horse Comics in January 1994. Written by Mike Barr, Drawn by Brad Rader and Jim Rohn
