THE MARK IN AMERICA, ISSUE
1, PAGE 11
FEBRUARY 9, 2016
I had attended the second
Gay, Lesbian and Bi-sexual March on Washington in October of 1987 with my
spouse, John Callahan (and had made a side trip to NYC then as well). This time
I was attending stag and had a completely different experience than the first,
mostly a slight feeling of alienation from the proceedings. It occurred to me,
standing on the Mall with a million + Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Trans-genders,
and supportive camp followers of every race, age, creed, ethnicity, political
persuasion that we had nothing in common except that the same people hate us,
and that’s good for about 2 minutes of conversation before one has to fish for
mutual interests.
Actually, I’m jumping ahead
here; I should be covering this in issue 2’s posts, so I’ll shelve this
discussion for now.
This is page #11 from "The Mark" issue 1, volume 2,
otherwise known as "The Mark In America", published by Dark Horse
Comics in December 1993. Written by Mike Barr, Drawn by Brad Rader
