MY COLLECTION #17

-->

Here is a classic page by Will Elder, one of my all time fave comic book inkslingers. It appeared in Tales of the Crypt #37, an uncharacteristic (for the man who helped create Mad Magazine and Little Annie Fanny) horror story. I’m not sure how many horror stories Elder did, for EC or anybody else. Interestingly, many (or at least 3) of EC's horror artists were also humorists; I'm thinking of Jack Davis, Wally Wood and Harvy Kurtzman. Elder was renowned as a artistic and stylistic mimic as demonstrated in his stories for the early issues of Mad and Panic; this story could be said to be drawn in his own style.
